Founded in 1888, the Dallas Zoo was the first zoo in Texas and it is the state’s largest with 95 acres of developed land. It is a member of the American Zoo and Aquarium Association. Admission prices are $8.75 for adults and children age 12 and up, $5.75 for children age 3 to 11, and $5 for seniors 65 and up. Admission is free for children under 3 and Dallas Zoological Society members. The Zoo is open seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (Winter hours closing at 4 p.m.)

Just 50 miles southwest of Fort Worth, Texas, visitors to Fossil Rim Wildlife Center can observe over 1100 animals from five continents roaming free over 2700 acres. It is a safe haven for some of the worlds most endangered species including a host of native animals. Fossil Rim promotes excellence in wildlife conservation and education through its propagation and management programs, participation in scientific research, public education programming and training of conservation professionals. Fossil Rim was the first facility of its kind to be accredited by the American Zoo and Aquarium Association.

The purpose and goals of the IEFS are to provide a permanent sanctuary for exotic felines that have been abused, abandoned, neglected, confiscated or previously owned by people unwilling or unable to provide for these magnificent animals. Additionally, the sanctuary educates the public about the value and worth of these sensitive, intelligent and perceptive felines so that their future, as an important part of our world, is insured.
